So, I'm going to ask you, /out/ a question which will make you hate me forever and ever afterwards.
Is the ALICE pack any good? To my knowledge you guys hate and despice that pack, you wan't to burn it and forget it ever existed. At least I got that from a thread that a poor soul started some time ago.
In any case, considering the Large ALICE pack, seems to be quite good. Just curious if I can make it any more comfortable in any way, perhaps cutting out a backpadding from some other backpack and having it loose inbetween my body and ALICE pack.
The frame I assume is a must, from what I've heard, and the waist belt is a great help. What would your opinions be on getting the bags on the frontside (your belt bags).
Is there any handy uses for the ammunition pouches tho? I assume they're like any other pouch, but maybe not. Never used military gear.
I understand that it's made to last, do it's job, while it might cut down on the comfortability and the civilian use, as I don't intend to carry a gun with it, but otherwise It sounds pretty good.
Do you know if it makes noise when it brushes against, say, a branch? My father who is an active hunter has a backpack which is silent, it won't cause any sound when it scrapes against a branch. Well, a lil' bit but you won't even hear it 3 meters away.
In any case, try to cut out the hate, use the hate and convert it into arguements as of WHY I wouldn't get the ALICE pack. Not some 'I fucking hate it, it's shit' arguement, but say, 'After extended use I found that my back started to ache as I was carrying a heavier load than usual in it' or something like that.
TL;DR
Pro's and Con's of the ALICE backpack.
Also stories, ideas for adjustments and general info.
