Any good recommendations for a relative newfag?
Some backstory: I lived in the jungle and did ayahuasca for a while, smoking straight mapacho (rustica) for like 2 years. This was years ago, however. I tried looking for a rustica blend without just importing a log of mapacho, and I did find one, but I received it and it basically smells like smoky aroma you get with beef jerky. That's not what straight mapacho smells like; mapacho smells almost like a kinda dark chocolatey or maybe some sort of deep/dark earthy berry flavor, so I think with this blend I got that they're firing it or something to impart this smell to it. It doesn't necessarily taste like smoky beef jerky or whatever, but it doesn't taste like mapacho either. Trying to search for blends that have rustica in it is seemingly futile, and the reviews I've seen/read of others that do have rustica in it make note of this same "smoky" smell that is absolutely not what mapacho smells like at all, so I've already accepted that I'm not getting mapacho without just ordering a log of it.
but since I'm already down this rabbit hole of American pipe tobaccos, I figured I'd give a few of them a shot before I just go back to ol' faithful. Any recommendations on blends that actually taste/smell like tobacco without tasting like smoke? I think I've decided on Lane 1Q for an aromatic to try out, since that seems to be very popular, but I don't know or understand what all these virginia/burley/oriental/perique/etc words mean, smell, or taste like. I just want something that taste like tobacco.
