The great thing about the SU way is that you can go a solid day without seeing someone because it's not as popular as the highlands or the west isles. So you might not see Glen Coe but the solitude is great. Galloway forest is one of the darkest places in Europe and a dark sky park. However, a lot of the forest has the hand of man on it with the forestry etc.
