How careless a person must be if he loses something so dear to him so easily. When you lost that necklace on your trip you disrespected every memory you and your sister ever shared. What a humiliation it must have been for both you and your sister, when she found out how clumsy and uncaring you really are. I'll bet it showed her a lot about your true character OP.
I think you should do us all a favour OP. Go back to that river, and toss that necklace as far into the water as you can. That way, every time you look at yourself in the mirror and see the empty place on your chest where the necklace used to hang, you are reminded of your own shortcomings and above all the humiliation you put your sister through.
Maybe then you will truly learn something.
