>>85717>>86942My go-to cheat for fire starting are lightning nuggets, they're little balls of paraffin wax and sawdust, I always throw a couple in my pack as a "just in case", like if it's damp and I can't find any dry timber. I also like them because they don't contain any chemical accelerants other than the wax. A lot of other commercial fire starters have oils and solvents in them that are sticky, smelly and can wreck your gear.
Another good cheat method I used a lot when I was a younger lad was to pack a toilet paper tube with dryer lint. Lightweight, catches quickly, smolders well and (best of all) free.
I'd also recommend practicing the "diamond" blowing technique. Press the tips of your index fingers and thumbs together to make a little diamond shape hole, then press your lips up and blow through it. With a little practice you can generate a pretty strong jet of air.
