>>470158Unless you're in active Grizzly country, I tend to agree. Unnecessary weight. In general the rule I go with is "if you don't use it once every other day send it home". I don't have any moral aversion to firearms on trail or in general, I just think it is an unnecessary burden. Been hiking my entire life and never have I felt I needed a firearm with me except when I was working in the mountains up near Yellowstone when there was a a known aggressive male grizzly in the area.
