>>302210>we just saw the power line guys once chipping trees and asked if they could dump some on our land.Thats an excellent idea... I see the city guys chip wood around the streets from time to time so I'll remember this next time I see them. I'll call up the land management office and see what they say. Riverside is nearby too, actually, it is a BITCH to find 'root barrier' so I had to drive an hour to Lake Elsinore to a company that sells it and bought some 18" barrier for my raspberry patch (I don't want stray roots growing all over the yard and popping up unexpectedly out of their patch/confined space). I went to maybe 10 Home Depots and nobody sold it.
You should really check out other stores or go on the website and put in your zip code then click on your 'local ad'. I went to 4-5 Home Depots and all of them had the 5 for $10 mulch sale but just take one of those ads to Lowes and they'll match and beat the Home Depot price by 10% as well which is what I'm planning to do today or tomorrow. You could do the same with the soil as well, in fact I know I'll need some.
I'm not really into bulbs as I am seeds. Home Depot has 'buy one, get one free' on all seeds but what they really do is just mark down all their listed seed prices to 50% off. They only have Ferry Morse and Seeds of Change from what I've seen. I'd like them to have Burpee seeds as they have shit tons of varieties but I'm planning to buy more seeds too. Yeah wood bark does deplete nitrogen as the wood 'steals' the nitrogen from plants competing for it. Luckily, I buried some 21-0-0 deep in the soil (6-18" deep) where the roots can get it when they grow to that depth but not the mulch when I was preparing the beds. Adding nitrogen back isn't a problem as are weeds and moisture retaining!
Heres a picture of the Home Depot mulch bags I saw last week when I couldn't believe how cheap it was! Also, do you know where I can buy raspberry SEEDS? I got some on ebay since its hard to find in stores...
