/out/, rate my plan
I am in my early 20s and I think about buying small rural house or summer cottage (pic related, there are over a million of those in Finland) and renovating it to be winter usable. I also think about buying some forest for logs and firewood to secure my heating needs. I would not be completely off grid, but I would have food from potato and carrot fields, berry bushes, apple- and pearl trees, fish from lake (there are over 200,000 lakes in here, also water is often very clean) foraging from forests (berries, mushrooms, different herbs) and meat from hunting (one deer has pretty amazing amount of meat) and drinking water from well. (Underground clean water springs are common, as sand- and gravel rich ground is great filter for water). Electricity would come from grid, but I also plan on using solar. That way my usage would be very little and in summertime when sun shines for major part of day I could sell electricity back to grid or charge batteries. Also chickens are great to have, they would clean the yard from ticks and provide fertiliser and eggs. Meat also, if needed.
Is this larp? No. I am scout leader who trains survival skills, I have spent very many nights in forest (often under stars, I dont even own a tent), I am a hunter, I own firearms, I have savings, two jobs and I am training for another profession. I also have literal christian trad gf, but I would still have to convince her to partake this plan of mine.
I cant bear the thought of living in small chicken box in some city, using big part of my income to rent and utilities, hearing my neigborous farts and anime show openings. Who can live like that?
Ask questions, be my devils advocate.
