Mine is really simple..
• decent comfortable backpack with padded straps and a sternum strap (actually pic related) with a 2L bladder and hose with an inline Sawyer filter
Inside:
•6 coast guard emergency water pouches
•4 freeze dried meal pouches (each is 4 servings, with a recommendation of eating 2 servings a day, so it's 8 days of food for me or 4 days with a second person)
• a fixed blade knife (Mora companion)
• ferro rod
• a zippo (in a pinch, even if it's out of fluid the cotton inside is great fire lighting material and the zippo still throws a good spark even when empty)
• a mess kit
• a small waterproof container for storing the extra servings when preparing the freeze dried meals (which I use to store all of the small items in my pack)
• a small solid fuel pocket camp stove
• a P38
• a stainless spork multitool keychain thing
• a stainless canteen with a stainless cup that fits on the bottom of it
• a small notebook and waterproof pen
• a small roll of duct tape
• a pair of hiking boots with two pair of socks inside, one lightweight cotton for warm and dry weather, and wool for cold and damp
• a headlamp and mini maglite
• spare AAA batteries for them
• and a 2-way radio with NOAA weather channel options.
On the outside:
• a MOLLE pouch first aid and suture kit my Firefighter/EMT godfather put together for me with just the absolute necessities for the most common injuries he would treat from campers, hikers and backpackers.
• 50 feet of nylon rope
• 150 feet of 550 cord
• ditty bag with a decent jacket inside
• fleece blanket
• hammock with mosquito netting top of a rain fly tarp I made for it
and that's about it, I think. I keep it in my car and it has actually saved my life, if anyone cares to hear the story.
