>>945744I use clinch knots exclusively to tie on tackle. If the knot is pushed to one side or another it could cause problems. However, I've never really had them cause circling. It might drift to one side but next cast fixes it. When there is a problem with the lure it is normally something fouled or the lure isn't properly made.
Try using a "Non Slip Loop Knot" and see if that changes the action. If it does, it may be that you are using line that is too thick for the action of the lure.
