>>1911067I have never owned a butane or jetboil. I have used them and just about every other stove type however. I think they all have their place and such gas canister stoves (not propane) are great for longer trips when you want to pack your fuel and stove in to a remote area. It is a dense fuel source and it takes zero fiddling. Alcohol stoves can be very lightweight but their fuel is less dense. I think the sweet spot is canister butane stoves for 2+ days and alcohol stoves for up to 2 days. That said, alcohol stoves for traveling in the 3rd world or other countries because alcohol is literally everywhere. I am currently using a Trangia and this Evernew 2 piece cross stove that weighs about half an ounce on its own. The stove carries all the fuel I need for cooking for about 3 hot meals and all I do is fill it and keep the lids screwed on. I normally use an emberlit style titanium wood stove but I like to stealth scout and this area I am exploring has a bunch of hunters and I don't want to draw attention to a fire.
