Anons, OP here, a few updates.
I got the chicks 4 days ago.
They've been growing up quite fine (pic related.)
I'm going to soundproof the balcony - for anyone that thinks I'm being a shitty neighbour, all of my neighbours have really loud dogs.
Not going to be vengeful though, so I'm trying to mitigate all the noise that I can.
Another misunderstanding - that they will fall off.
I'm going to be careful about building a proper enclosure for them - I got chicken wire, and I'm building a large, 8x8 foot "box", surrounded with chicken wire.
On the ground, I'm considering laying some grass, so they can frolic and have fun.
I got a smaller breed as well - Red Sex Links.
Chickens need approximately 6 square feet of run, and 3 square feet of coop space, on a minimum, to be happy.
I have 35 square feet for just two.
In addition - addressing the smells; I'll be composting their waste and bedding in with my plants - this should help the plants grow, and this should mitigate any particularly noxious odors.
Once again though, only two fairly small chickens, so I hope the problems should be minimal.
