>>2444189No it's a redfin pickerel. Esox americanus americanus. Very closely related to the grass pickerel and closely related to the chain pickerel. The redfin/grass don't get very big. State record in SC is 1 pound 8 ounces. They're all related to pike and often erroneously called pike.
They tend to inhabit ditches/cannals/branches/swamps. I've been working on stocking a pond with them (never been done before on record) and it seems that they have in fact reproduced in the pond, something the literature said should be impossible.
