>>2454879If you lack the knowledge, the experience, the access, and/or the permits (when applicable) to engage in any of the following activities:
>fishing>bird hunting>game hunting>mycology>geology>foragingThen the number of "fun" /out/ activities you can engage in will be limited to birding (AKA bird watching) and day hiking, since you'll be tied to your location. If you get multiple days free in a row, then perhaps you could hike further out and camp for a night or two.
I recommend purchasing/downloading navigation and orienteering guides, getting a good compass (not a $15 Chinese piece of shit), obtaining laminated USGS maps of your location, buying a signal whistle and possibly a flare gun, and then start off by navigating very small distances into the wilderness.
At first, do not lose sight of the furthest extent of the hotel grounds. You can get lost, literally, just a few dozen paces out of sight of the nearest landmark.
Get some binoculars or a monocular, maybe a field guide to birds. Don't buy a book on mycology, because I don't want to be responsible for your death.
If you've never experienced real solitude before, then there's no way for you to know, nor for anyone to tell you, whether or not you'll like it.
Good luck. The great outdoors, still far stronger than all of humanity (all 8 billion of whom would fit into the Grand Canyon several times over) despite the propaganda, awaits you.
