>>1798756I whole-heatedly vouch for the Fiskars hatchet. They make a really tiny one which has no momentum so it's only good for minor bushcraft, and they may larger ones and of course axes good for felling and splitting, but for what you want I'd say the Fiskars X7 is the way to go.

I also really love Estwing (my current primary hatchet) so that's an option but it's heavier and the blade doesn't cut nearly as well as the Fiskars.
