>>1928345>wildlands firefighterA good place to start, decent money too. You just gotta be the kind of person that can handle the irregularity of the job.
>>1928951Piggybacking off of this, don't look at USAjobs first. You want to go to this site first to see what positions they are actually looking to fill.
https://fsoutreach.gdcii.com/USAjobs will have tons of listings for jobs that aren't actually available, usually they just keep them listed because they rehire the same people from season to season.
>>1930303Don't listen to this guy, there's plenty of opportunity to get an /out/ job.
>>1931585>Its literally fucking easy and firm handshake tierTruer words have never been spoken. I spent like 20 minutes calling the arborists in my town and like a week later I've got two companies vying for me to work for them, they want to train me to climb and everything. Work is out there lads, just don't depend on online ads to find it.
Here's my advice if you want to get into Forest Service: Apply and work for a Conservation Corps. You spend a summer volunteering and doing the grunt work for trails maintenance. Pretty good fun, you get to see all sorts of cool places that you wouldn't otherwise. I got 900 volunteer hours, and now employers are literally clambering over each other trying to hire me. Just don't expect to make any money while you're doing it. I made 500 bucks biweekly after tax. Check it out anons, best way into the forestry field imo. Don't even fuck with a degree until you've done something like this.
