now back when i was a little more serious about fishing in open top waters with weeds below the surface, i'd break out the zara spook. this thing often got me in more trouble than catching fish, what with it's size and giant treble hooks flopping around, but in shallow areas it may work well for you. casts easy and very far without any extra lead.
