I generally conduct my outdoor activities for fun. I get a certain amount of fulfillment using a bigger knife, that's a part of it for me. It far from sucks for detailed work or skinning if you're practiced. Splitting, I suppose you could with pic related, I've made kindling and stuff for firecraft plenty of times but that's not normally something I go for - although, I can see how some if the fuckhuge Ron Hood type knives could be advantageous if you're lacking a solid surface to work on and you want to baton to split your wood. As you can see I use an axe for that. I find my knife cuts just as well through the brush and undergrowth here as any machete I've used for the same job too.
What all you fellas talking about what you believe to be the best for this that and the next thing don't seem to get is that not everybody lives where you live and that some people also like to go /out/ for fun and not as some kind of neckbeard survival exercise.
Tell me I'm compensating or whatever if you want but I'm enjoying myself and it's working just fine.
