I have 1 acre of very rocky + heavy + poorish soil. I also want a food forest. I am planning on bringing in an excavator to dig ~40 holes about 2 feet deep this week.
Idea:
>Fill each hole with biomass / micro lasagna compost / Hugelkultur
>Leave it be for the next 6 months with rain and snow for the winter season
>Early spring next year I add any needed soil to fill the hole and mix it up with the hole-compost
>Transplant all the trees
