Does anyone know of any campsites in California that have a more "roughing it" approach? I ask because I'm sure all the land is owned by someone and it would be illegal to just pick a forest and set up camp anywhere.
This will be my first trip alone and it's sort of a trial run for living off The land. Ultimately, maybe a couple of years down the line, I'd like to live in a forest somewhere in the world (Germany?) Surviving only by farming and hunting. A simple life of solitude and free of excess.
A pipe dream probably, but I feel the experience and knowledge would be good to have.
