So I got this Puma pocket knife from my grandfather and it was a bitch to open for a long time, constantly breaking my fingernails. I read around online a bit and came across this 'tutorial' on how to loosen it up and make it easier to open. So I put it in a bath of hot water and dish soap for over night. When I checked it out the next morning, three of the tools (the ones pictured) were completely loose swinging out with gravity alone. There's absolutely no resistance whatsoever holding them inside. However, the other three tools on the other side of the pocket knife are even stuck even more now and almost impossible to open.
Does anybody know what exactly I did to my knife? How can a bit of soap change metal this drastically over night? How do I fix a pocket knife that is loose/stubborn and doesn't have any screws? Please excuse my English.
