There's a saying in the professional guiding industry "Friends don't let friends buy retail." This applies to all sorts of gear, be it knives or down sleeping bags like people are discussing ITT. you see, there are ways of circumventing the costs of expensive equiptment. I work for a guiding company so I get pro deals on equiptment. For example, I bought a really nice Benchmade Griptillian for only $40, as opposed to the normal $120. Now I'm not saying "hey anons, you should all go work for an outdoor company so you can get nice knives." but that is one way. Also buying online. For example, there's a website called
6AM.com that sells really good stuff for cheap. Also amazon, ebay, overstock, or local outdoor gear exchange shops can slash prices on all sorts of things.
So basically anons, do your homework and you won't have to pay up the ass for nice knives and down jackets.
