I followed a route on maps published by Adventure Cycling most of the way, but Western Oregon was essentially my backyard, so I took a scenic route along the Smith river inland.
>>193530I met some people in Eastern Oregon, ditched them to meet my family in Yellowstone, and then met them again in Eastern Colorado after some serious detours to see Rocky Mountain and Great Sand Dunes national parks.
On my own, on full bicycling days, I averaged 88 miles a day. With them, it was 65.
I aimed for 5000 calories a day, but I didn't count too closely. I ate when I was hungry, which was often. Diet info in next post.
