Without some pockets for smaller items, they tend to get lost in the pack. Things like spare batteries (cold is hell on 'em), headlamp, phone, granola bars, and the like.
Pack's on the smaller side... tough to cram everything I take snowmobiling into that pack.
Also sized a bit smaller - straps are more let out on that pack than any of my other ones. Factor in protective gear and jacket/outerwear, that pack fits small.
I don't carry as much survival gear/extra stuff on the bike as I do on the sled, so it works out well.
