I've never really tried any fly fishing but the size and weight of tenkara fishing equipment is very appealing to me. I used to go fishing as a kid with regular rods and reels but I also had a big bamboo cane pole that seems a lot like primitive tenkara. I live in a great area with plenty of mountain steams and trout ponds. What is a good starter rod? Any miscellaneous tips? What does your tenkara tackle look like?
