>>2438806If you only want one rod, I can recommend these.
> PRO S 663-1> PRO S 703-1they are not really what someone would consider a catfish rod obviously, but they are amazing for a wide range of your average species. i don't like "catfish specific" rods anyways because they are shit for everything else. these rods are perfect for everything from panfish to large bass. they feel perfect casting 1/8-1/4oz lures, but if you're catfishing you can throw a 1/2oz lead weight on it no problem. I've caught plenty of 5lb bass on it and it doesn't break a sweat. If you're targeting huge cats, you might want a dedicated cat rod and heavy line, but if you're after a good do it all rod, it's perfect. I run a 2000 sized reel and 8lb mono, but 10 would be fine too. or just use 15lb braid with leaders. Not many rods can do small panfish AND larger fish well, but this one does due to the action combined with the lure rating and strong backbone. It's not a budget rod, but it's one you won't feel like upgrading from so it's worth it. you could pair it with a Penn Pursuit IV 2500 and it would suit your needs well.
