I usually don't bring a hatchet with me but the few times I have it's always one of these cheapo walmart/tractor supply ones. I have a couple since I usually use them for garden work so when I take one camping I already know how well it works and am never afraid of damaging one or losing it. They're only about 2 lbs max and are great for cutting thick brush just like I use them for in my yard. I just bought another one of these red walmart ones a couple weeks ago since they were like $7 on clearance.
