I think it's more important to offer ideas and let people pick and choose. I just prefer the clay aesthetic, with clay walls, and tile floors and roofs.
Clay is still useful though because you can use it to make your stove, oven, pots, kitchenware, and furniture (benches/sleeping platforms) if you wanted to.
The problems I have with wood are it's flammable and prone to rot. Plus I don't know if you have to season your logs to build with them or if you can use fresh green wood. I'm pretty sure you can use green wood though.
In the end it comes down to the individual anon and what they want. Freedom should be an integral part of the village. It's a huge part of why I want to get out of the city.
