I went from being homeless to starting a job to renting a place privately to buying my own apartment to renovating that apartment and now shopping for a van to convert all in 18 months. 18 months from the transition from homeless to working to actually van shopping. I estimate the van will be completed in 6 months. So say 2 years clean from nothing to mortgage and van. I bought an apartment at the bottom of the market and did a full renovation (see pic). When I decide to travel in the van I will take 8 weeks off work just to dip my toes into living in a van. If I like it I can fuck off and rent it out far above my mortgage repayments while working various jobs. I'm fully ticketed to drive forklifts, trucks, confined space, elevated platform, traffic control, electrical spotter, service of alcohol and gambling etc picking up work with so many certs is quite easy.
