instead of trekking or hiking i would be interested in doing a bike tour for a month where i mostly sleep in a tent, of course the first and biggest hurdle for me is picking a good bike. its been over a decade since i last rode a bike and im wondering if anyone has recommendations for a reasonably priced bike which is good for the road but also the occassional less trodden paths and trails - preferably something thats comfortable to ride for days on end as it would be the main method of getting around. instead of a specific model per se what characteristics should i look for in a bike which will be the most impactful in the choice of getting one?
my plan is to do a month long trip in Europe, since I will be sticking to smaller roads and passing through villages semi regularly are there any recommendations for cutting down unneccessary equipment from the backpack?
