>>2436645morakniv companion is a great knife for outdoors. it has a scandi grind so it is very easy to sharpen in the field, but because it has a scandi grind its not so good at doing small knife tasks. i like to bring a razor blade or small pocket knife with it because of that.
>Or is it so cheap bc it's low quality?the only thing that feels cheap about it is that its not a full tang knife, but the hidden tang they use isn't bad. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, as its really low weight and the super comfy molded style grip are made possible by it not being full tang. i've seen people use morakniv companions or morakniv companion hd's as foot holds to climb trees before so they're not flimsy by any means. when they break its usually someone wailing on it in very low temps.
the steel is cheap but good enough and better than you would expect at the price. a lot of exotic 'good' steels are bad innawoods cause they're too hard to field sharpen anyways.
the sheath is polarizing some people really like it and some people really hate it. its secure enough and works good enough.
i think its the best beater knife you can get. the morakniv 511 knife they sell is very good too, as a slightly smaller option. some people also really like the heavy duty version of the knife in your pic but i think the normal version you posted is a better size for outdoor tasks over-all.
