Got a rarity here.
I taught 2 friends how to make knives.
My friend lives on his family's farm so there are lots of old tools around in the former stable.
While he was polishing the blade I got bored and took a look around.
Saw this beauty sitting in the corner completely red with rust.
I noticed the markings on the handle and told my friend that he had a treasure sitting here.
Since I was bored I took some sandpaper and WD 40 and did some basic rust removal.
Removed the mushrooming of the hammer face with a file.
Sharpened the thing.
When we were done with the knife my friend gifted it to me as thanks.
I always wanted a full steel hatchet.
The steel at the edge ist pretty hard, it chips rather than bending.
The rubber seems to have shrunken a bit but is in mint condition otherwise, not sticky or brittle.
Really cool.
What do you say? Should I keep the used look out mirror polish it?
