I've shilled it before and I will shill it again, the box cutter is all you need in a general purpose knife. Cuts everything, never needs sharpening, cheaper than dirt. If you need to clean fish buy a fillet knife, if you need to clean game buy a butcher's knife, if you need to chop wood by an axe. If you just want a knife to keep in your pocket for the occasional job that requires a knife buy a box cutter. Pic related is what I carry, cost me six bucks. You don't need whatever the meme steel of the day is, you don't need a 6mm spine, you don't need a fancy grind, the extreme majority of people who carry a knife (/out/ included) need something that will occasionally cut things. If you want to drop $100 on a knife then by all means, but be aware you aren't getting anything more than an expensive toy.
