A friend of a friend (says he is ex military) got pissed at me for keeping my carbon steel knives and tools oiled. he scrubbed all the oil off of them and touched them with his bare hands b4 handing them back (there oiled again now). the question is, am i wrong? he said steel wont rust unless it gets water on it, and that the oil will make it rust (some blades I used olive oil, others I use Vaseline if i am not using it anytime soon) am I wrong, or is he?
