>>2070694If you're car camping, it's worth it. If you're backpacking, just get a UCO candle lantern. it's enclosed enough that you CAN hang it inside the tent and you can read by it, but not as well as with a headlamp.
But if the main concern is atmosphere, a Candle lantern still looks like a lantern and has fire in it, and it's much smaller and lighter than a hurricane lamp. (and you can't spill the oil all over your shit).
Also, you can look up a way to make your own oil lamp insert for the UCO on youtube, if you just GOTTA have oil.
