i started carrying my kid around in it when he was 4 months old, he's now 8 months, absolutely loves it. he sits high enough he can see over my shoulders, unlike some packs where the kid spends the whole time staring at your back. we've gone on 8+ mile hikes, 3rd class scrambling, all over the sierra, never a complaint from him.
plus is worth the extra storage, but premium's daypack is a waste imo.
