I have an mepps syclops and the only thing I've ever caught on it was a dead freshwater mussel when the hook went straight through the shell which had become brittle.
I use this thing all the time and it never works. I've tried painting a red stripe on it to make it look wounded, I've tried scents and attractants, I've tried baiting the hook, all different kinds of retrieves, leaders, directly on the main line with different knots, swivels, basically anything I could thing of other than a trolling rig.
