>>1198655>>1199281Thanks, my uncle is big into audio-related stuff so now that he knows about my attempts to record birds he is doing a bunch of research and is in the process of constructing a DIY parabolic mic with Primo EM-172 capsules to use in the future. Probably won't be able to use that until I go back home in the spring though.
This is a recording from my trip a couple weeks back and I applied a low-cut filter but otherwise it's pretty raw. Mostly woodpeckers were recorded, it sounds like Acorn and Nuttall's for the most part. Some other birds here and there. I was happy about the location since aside from one or two jets and some voices from hikers at one point it was pretty "pure" over the course of the 30+ minutes recording.
Pic related is my set up for this recording, any tips on placement? I wasn't sure if it would be best to place the recorder on a solid rock surface or should I plant it in the ground in the future?
