>>510976I like it. Got it for under $200 from West Marine, ACR had a $50 rebate that kinda sealed the deal. Looked around for coupon codes which got me free shipping too.
Haven't had to use it yet (and hope I don't ever have to), so I can't really speak for the rescue side of things.
But self-test is easy enough, GPS test is just as easy, and operation is pretty simple.
I keep it on a shelf with my GPS and radios, which reminds me to update the registration when I go on trips (Vehicle/hotel info, dates, blood type, # of people in the group, emg contacts, etc). For longer trips I'll print out the registration page and keep it on my sled with insurance/registration/avalanche info reference stuff.
My only complaint is the little "instructions" that comes on it - there's not really enough surface area on the unit for stickers, so there's a little paper flap they print the operation instructions on. That started to tear after about the 2nd ride, so I just yanked it off and stuck the NOAA sticker right to the back of it.
I also kinda wish there was a table in the manual I could fill in as I do the limited number of self-tests.
>>511025I carry one of those too.
PLB's simple for someone else in the group to use in an emergency, I can't say that about my radio.
