For suede and nubuck you can just go over it with a stiff brush. Suede brushes with nylon and brass bristles are convenient and easy to find.
Stains can usually be worked out with a regular pencil eraser.
For the record, timbs is waterproof. You might get water staining in the nubuck but you can always rinse it out with more water.
If you REALLY don't want any water in the suede at all you can always go over it with normal boot wax, although you'll probably need more than normal and this will change the look a lot if you care about that sort of thing.
