>>591952I carry my DSLR in a LowePro toploader. When I am backpacking this means the camera hangs in front of me and all I have to do is lift it up. A DSLR turns off/on and focuses almost instantly, which means I can pick it up, flick it on, shoot, and put it back in far less time than it takes to get my phone out of my pocket and setup the shot.
I can also take about 300 photos per battery with my DSLR, and I have a low end model with a small battery. I can also carry spare batteries that can be swapped in at any time, rather than having to rely on recharging with an external pack.
I have taken photos with my phone and with my DSLR, and the only advantages phones have is size and weight.
