Construction of my first ever trial raised bed (planned for strawberries mainly - a more shady place during droughts and raised to keep off slugs/snails in wet periods) is slowly moving on
But damn moving in all that garden clay is really nasty labour, especially in 30C weather. Today I only got in the lower ca. 15cm and it took me 2 hours. Bed is 1.40x1.40m, so I got in about 0.3m^3, considering the high density of the clay, about a metric ton.
Garden clay will eventually make up the lower ca. 50cm of the total 80 it has in height, on top of that layers of well-fermented compost (3 years) and store bought potting soil (I think I'll need five 40 litre bags, about €2 each) will follow, then I'll let it settle for a month, add in more potting soil, and finally plant the strawberry runners I'm currently rooting around mid-August
