If there was a huge 12 point buck next to a sickly, smaller buck with a genetic disorder, I would take out the sick deer in an instant. the sickly deer would have hurt the herd. If the population gets high, we shoot deer so that there is more food for the rest. If population is too low, we shoot some of the predators so that the herd can recover. It's called conservation
