>>2332902Near as I could tell, a dispute started up between some of these tweaker/juggalo types that turned up. John Day has a "The Hills Have Eyes" kinda vibe to it. A younger kid got beat down pretty badly and had to be medivac'd out of there (helicopter transport). Heard more than a handful of couples fighting loudly & seemingly coming to blows. Again, these were part of a crop of people that didn't seem to fit in with the "usual" Rainbow hippie types. More akin to the meth'd out freight train riders that travel around getting wasted and stealing anything not bolted down. The overall vibe was different than previous gatherings. It wasn't terrible or anything, just a slight change of vibe/pace than what I'd come to expect from events like these. The locals were also less than thrilled about our presence. There was a town hall meeting in John Day proper, to see if they could kick us off etc. The medivac incident only added fuel to the fire. I just hung with my lady and some folks that we met & became friends with (fellow nomads). I could write a novella about that Summer. Interesting times.
