I like the contour mapping, gps tracking, course setting and plotting. knowing the depth and finding highspots is always helpful.
fish id is bullshit and its always turned off on mine. I like that I can see schools of bait and what the bottom is made of. marking waypoints is great to return to spots you caught at or to retrieve traps..
at first it would seem like you dont need one, which you dont..but when you have all the info at your disposal you realize it makes sense. my time on the water is limited so why spend time guessing where the fish are?
though It also depends on the type of fishing you do..
