Nice thread, OP. There is a ton of methods for making fishing hooks, but one of the easiest to make that actually works is called a, "gorge hook." So, look up how to make them; they are super easy to make. You can make them from nearly anything stiff (long thorns, wood, bone, hard plastic, metal, etc.) For typical J-hooks like these there's a few knots you can tie that doesn't require a hole in the hook. The knot most people use for eyeless hooks is a, "snell knot."
Also, for your thicker fishing line, you can use that as your main line then tie on a thinner line to use as a leader. A good fiber to make cordage from is dogbane (Apocynum cannabinum.) It grows in the USA. For Europe & USA you can use fiber from stinging nettle (Urtica dioica). You can watch a few videos on youtube to learn how to quickly use the thigh-roll method to make cordage from those plants. You can make a strong thin leader in a short amount of time. The best part is that both plants like areas a bit soggier which usually occur around fishing spots. Making cordage while bobber fishing is a good pastime. You may find that you like it so much that you'll make 10-20 feet just to use as your main fishing line. It will be stronger than the line you are currently using and tie onto hooks a bit easier.
>>1666722If OP only posted 1-2 images and posts for those images I'd agree. However, the OP is posting a running set of posts which is quite valid for an additional thread. It is fine to direct people to containment threads, like that gardening containment thread, but if people are blog-posting a great deal then a slower moving thread of their own is fine.
>>1666984>thinner lineIf he is live/cut bait fishing it doesn't matter too much. It is only when you are lure fishing that easily visible line can be a problem by spooking fish.
