Meremac river, meaning ugly water in Algonquin. The Mississippi, Missouri, current and black River are all within easy driving distance but the meremac is in my backyard. Everything is making a comeback here. When my dad was a kid there weren't any frogs from the pollution now you can't hear yourself think from all the chirps. We recently had a beaver move in nearby. It's pretty cool to watch the area recover.
