>>2423479Wrong. Available data shows just the opposite, that bear spray is actually more likely to stop a dangerous bear than a gunshot. This kind of makes sense when you realize a bear is an eldritch monsters that can still move faster than you when it has a 30 caliber hole in both lungs. If you use a gun you need to force the bear to stop moving towards you. If you are only able to respond once the bear is already right next to you then this requires accuracy, or more realistically it requires luck. If you use bear spray the bear will decide that it doesn't want to move towards you. It's been demonstrated over and over and over again that bear spray is the fastest and most reliable way to stop a charging bear. Even when I am hunting elk with my 30 06 I still carry spray, because that's more likely to save my life.
