a shemagh is good for desert conditions. fold it into a triangle then put it over your head under your hat and it will cover the sides of your face and neck. you can also wet it to heatsink.
what stove are you using. some types of stove do not do well with wind and in a desert with no cover it can be hard to cook if you cant shield it in some way. you can cut up an aluminium cooking tray to do this they are cheap and can fold away to stow very well.
sunglasses. it will be bright in a desert
light colored lightweight clothing or sunblock of you wear shorts. Arab men don't wear those dresses cause they are stylish it protects from the sun
