>>1260468Zone 5a. It isn't unusual to have cold snaps here this time of year. However, never that cold. It was around 2F outside. Seems everyone has lost their apple, peach, and other tree crops this year last night. Good news is that the polytunnel with the black-painted, 2-liter soda bottles filled with water did perfectly fine (45F in it). Those tomato and watermelon plants were not touched. The trees have never had this happen to them (except the mulberry which doesn't matter in this case.) Most of my trees are 10-25 years old too. but, this year has been ultra weird. Like super cold then super hot. Right now it is 75F. In fact, some trees started budding out in January because it got super warm for so long. I couldn't even make maple syrup this year or last year. Normally, there'd be 4 feet of snow at that time and -15F temps at night. The past 5 years have been off the wall crazy.
